Act 1: Shopping and Sightseeing

“They say life's what happens when you're busy making other plans. But sometimes in New York, life is what happens when you're waiting for a table.”
Sarah Jessica Parker
The scene opens on the beautiful city of New York. The giant skyscrapers loom over the city streets, as heavy traffic moves along the narrow streets. The sky was a bright blue even after a small amount of snow that had fallen to the ground. It didn't stay and it was another wonderfully warm day. The sidewalks were crowded with people heading off to work or to see the city in it's splendor. The lines at the ticket offices for the Broadway plays had already started, while the small cafes were full of wannabe poets, and artists. A few street performers played guitars, or steel drums on street corners and had small pails out for people to put money into. The window displays for the stores were beautifully done, and caught the eye of anyone that passed them by, some wishing to be able afford what they saw one day. The large TV over Times Square flashed with advertisements for the local TV stations, and the stores that lined the streets, while tour buses wound their way through the crowded streets. Couriers moved quickly through the jammed traffic on bikes, while others used Pakour to finish the job. We soon see Mia and Sakura walking out of one of the many shops that lined 5th Ave with their hands full of bags. They had been shopping all morning and hadn't even begun to hit the major stores that still weren't opened yet. Mia had read about one store in the East Village that they had to go to, but that could wait. They had all day and at least one more before their match. Today was about just being sisters and nothing more.
Sakura: I don't know how much more I can hold sis.
Mia: Don't be silly! We still have a whole city to explore!
Sakura: I would like to go sightseeing sometime today.
Mia: Sure if you want to do that we can and will! We can go and see the Statue of Liberty on the harbor cruise tonight, China Town, Little Italy, Greenwich Village... There is so much to see and do here!
Sakura could tell Mia was happy to be back in the states. She had found her true calling here, and Sakura could understand why. The city had much to offer, and there was still more to see. They continue to walk along the streets passing a few more stores, before Mia stops in front of a Starbucks. They had worn off what they had for breakfast and needed to eat again before they continued on.
Sakura: Are you sure we have enough time to see everything today? We still have yet to train for our match.
Mia: We have plenty of time for everything! Tonight when we get back to the hotel we can train then!
Sakura: But we're not going up just against one team, it'll be us verses two teams.
Mia: Sakura, I've learned in this business that you should never feel out numbered when you're really not. Fear and Jasper had their butts handed to them last week when they faced me alone, do you really think they are going to stand a chance against us together?
Sakura looks down at the giant cookie before her, and then back at Mia. Her words did have a ring of truth to them. Fear and Jasper had attacked Mia unfairly after the match she had won, only to be beaten back by her and Mia before they had disappeared.
Sakura: What about the other team? I know they both lost to Ms. Canelli last week, but that's all really.
Mia: I know Ms. Canelli and she's no pushover, and I've faced Andy Star before the shows were split. He's really nothing special. Eric Green though... I never even heard of him until Thursday night.
Sakura: I haven't either. So what do we do against them?
Mia: Fear and Jasper are going to get theirs. No one attacks me and gets away with it. They're just big bullies anyway, and they think everyone should be afraid of them, but I'm not, and I know you're not. Together we can bring them down, and keep our titles for a little while longer!
Sakura could see the look of determination in Mia's eyes, and she knew the two of them could stand their ground, and take out whoever stood in their way. Sakura knew she had been on a winning streak since she arrived, but would that end this week? She knew Mia wouldn't let her down, no matter what the cost.
Sakura: Maybe we should check their profiles on the computer when we get back to the hotel. That might give us a bit more information on them, and Eric Green, and Andy Star.
Mia: Good idea! C'mon we still have a lot to see and do ye...
Mia stops as she looks up at the skyline. The Empire State building loomed over them and Mia smiled wildly.
Mia: I'm going to jump off of the top of it one day!
Sakura: Are you sure that's a good idea sis? I think there maybe a rule against jumping from there.
Mia: Rules have never stopped me before have they? Besides I have my base jumping stuff back at the hotel! You can always be my cover!
Sakura: I don't think that would be such a good idea sis.
Mia: Why not?
Sakura: Because our match is coming up, and we'll be in prison.
Mia shakes her head. She knew people in the city, and knew that all she would have to do is make a phone call and they would be out without any problems.
Mia: I would like to today, but since we have our match on Thursday... I guess I could do after we win! That would be an awesome celebration!
Sakura sighs, as they walk through the large crowds and stop at one of many bus stops for the tour buses that moved through the city. They pay the fare and head to the top of the open double decker bus that would let them explore the city from comfort for at least a while. They sit down, and they are soon pulling off into the traffic of the city.
Mia: *Voice Over* I didn't really expect to be put against you and Jasper again. I thought we would never have to worry about you once we beat you after our match. What lesson did you not learn? I mean Thursday night it's going to be easy. Not only will you stand against me, but my sister as well, and we will not back down without a fight. I know how you two work, and how you try and intimidate people, but it's not going to work. I stood against you alone and won. But this this time it won't be just my sister and I, but it'll be Andy Star and Eric Green. Those two I'm not really worried about... Oh the little trick you pulled with the white rabbit... very funny. I come from a place where we see ducks, fish and other animals hanging in the market windows.
Mia looks over and sees Sakura taking pictures of whatever the tour guide points out. Mia pokes her and Sakura just smiles softly.
Mia: What are you doing?
Sakura: I'm taking pictures of the city.
Mia: Sakura save the picture taking until you see something that is better than half the stuff they're pointing out. Besides it's so stereotypical.
Mia and Sakura turn around, and see a few people of Japanese decent taking picture of everything they pass by. Sakura sighs, as Mia just nods.
Sakura: So what do we do after this?
Mia: There's this place in Little Italy we have to go to. They have the best pizza in the city!
Sakura: I've never had pizza before.
Mia: That's right... I forgot you've never had pizza before. Trust me you'll love it!
Sakura just smiles, and nods slightly. Mia knew some of the best places in the states to eat, and she know it wouldn't disappoint her. The bus moves through the city letting Sakura get a real good look at everything around her as the scene fades to black.
Act 2: Speedy's Pizza and Chinese Emporium and Video Games
The scene opens on Mia and Sakura walking through Little Italy. Little shops lined the streets along with bakeries with their smells filling the air as they walked by the shops. Pizza places lined either side of the street, with signs marked with specials on them hanging in the windows.
Mia: It's got to be here somewhere.
Sakura: What are we looking for?
Mia: The place were I use to go when I stayed in New York.
Sakura: Maybe it's gone. I mean the city has changed since you left.
Mia: Not that much... I wonder where it is...
They continue to walk along the streets and soon stops in front of a strange looking shop. It seemed out of place among the Italian eateries, but the smells that were coming from inside were heavenly. Mia sighs and look at Sakura.
Sakura: Is this the place?
Mia: No, but it will have to do. C'mon I'm starved.
The two of them head into the small place, and walk up to the front counter. No one was there, until Sakura rang the small silver bell that sat on the counter. A strange little Chinese man walks out from behind the swinging doors of the kitchen, and the girls looked at each other, before looking at the man behind the counter.
Speedy: Welcome to Speedy's Chinese and Pizza Emporium. How may I help you?
Mia: Wait a minute... We passed a Speedy's in Jersey. Do you own that one too?
Speedy: Yeah, we decided to branch out and put one where we knew people would see us. What better place that Little Italy? We would have put it in China Town but that's just racist.
Mia just sighs as she looks up at the large menu that hung above them. They finally order something and sit down to wait on their order.
Sakura: Do you think Fear and Jasper are going to really worry about us? They have other opponents as well.
Mia: They'll probably focus more on us, since we are the bigger threat.
Sakura: Why would they consider us a threat? Is it because we defeated them after your match?
Mia: That and the fact that they were beaten by two girls.
Speedy: Hahaha! I saw that match! I knew you two looked familiar.
Mia: You follow UWA?
Speedy: Of course. I have a very big customer on the other show. Those 4 put my son and daughter through college.
Sakura: You mean Ms. Canelli?
Speedy: That's her. Consider this on the house. I won my bet on Sunday night when you won against Fear and Jasper.
Mia: Thank you? At least I think.
Speedy walks away leaving Mia and Sakura alone once again.
Mia: Andy Star and I have been in a match before, and I lost, but I think I have him figured out. I've watched a few matches, have seen where his weaknesses are. He tries to do the same thing over and over again, and when he does he leaves himself open every time. As for his partner Eric Green I'm not sure... All I know is that he's some rapper wannabe, and he had his ass handed to him by Joanne last week. I don't think he's been doing this for very long and doesn't really know what he's doing.
Sakura: I hope you're right sis. I've never been in a match like this before, and I'm not sure if I'll be any help to you.
Mia: Why would you think that? You've helped me win the Tag Titles, and have proven to be a worthy opponent for anyone who stands in front of you. I'm not worried about losing this match because of you Sakura, but to the others that might try and cheat their way through this match. Not everyone is as honest as we are Sakura and will do anything to get the titles that we carry.
Sakura nods, as she takes her first bite into the large slice of pizza that sat in front of her. She smiles softly as Mia does, knowing Sakura liked what she had tasted. This truly was the best day ever. They are soon ready to leave, and head out waving to Speedy as they do. Mia steps out onto the curb, and waves down a cab. It stops and Mia and Sakura get in, heading off toward the East Village. They pass through the city, and Mia's thoughts soon wander to the match once again.
Mia: *Voice Over* I don't know what else I could say to you and Jasper. I mean I've already beaten both of you and I'm not afraid of what you two could possibly do on Thursday night. My sister and I have been undefeated as a tag team and we don't plan on starting now. As for Andy Star and Eric Green... What can I really say? You get beat by one of the best in the business last week, and we're just as good as she is. I've faced you, Andy and wasn't really impressed by what I saw and I know you still a grudge stuck up your butt somewhere and want the tag titles worse than Fear and Jasper do. Of course you haven't even really won any matches yet, let alone win a title. I wonder why they put you into this match considering you haven't really done anything in the UWA since you joined, but mine is not to reason or wonder why. I just kick butts. Eric I have nothing against the wide world of music, or rappers, but from what I heard last week, you crossed the wrong person and I am very surprised that you are still living. This week you will see what it means to keep your eyes to the sky.
Mia smiles to herself as they make their way into the East Village area. The cab stops and they get out paying the cabbie that had given them a short tour of the local area. The two of them walk a little ways with Mia's mind still reeling.
Mia looks over at Sakura and they stop in front of an out of the way store on the corner. There stood in front of the store window a medium sized Mario statue. The windows were littered with signs for every system possible, and even an advertisement for a power glove. Mia's eyes go wide as she stood in front of the window, knowing they had just found her perfect haven.
Sakura: Mia?
Mia: I've found Shang ri la.
Mia grabs Sakura by the arm, and drags her into the store, as the scene fades to black.
