Can’t Always Get What You Want… Or Can You?
Characters Used: Shawn Cashman(With Permission), Damien Sinclair
Characters Mentioned: Shawn Cashman, Genocide, Joanne Canelli
[[Scene opens to a bag of peanut butter M&M’s sitting alone on a tall, cherry dining table. From behind the table, you catch a glimpse of something jumping up to grab the M&M’s, but it quickly disappears. You hear a little heavy sigh, and a hand once more trying to make the reach to get the candies, but to no avail. Out from behind the table, a little girl – looking to be around the age of 5 or 6, with long blonde hair tied behind a satin, pink bow, now is coming into view of the camera. She is wearing a pink a-line empire waist chiffon dress with sequins trim, and carrying a small basket full of pink and white rose petals. She looks around and sees the chair pushed into the table, now getting an idea to climb onto the chair. As she pulls the chair out enough for her to climb up, just as she arises on the seat, ready to grab the candies, a woman looking to be in her late thirties, then picks up the girl and places her back on the ground. This woman has short blonde hair, tied into a low bun; sporting a stunning silver Adrianna Papell beaded bolero jacket dress. She places the little girl back to the floor, and quickly takes the M&M bag from the table, putting the bag down on the ever-so-tall counter. She doesn’t seem like she’s in any mood to play games.]]
“ Now you know that isn’t for you. Besides, you know very well that is for the bride.”
“But mommy – I want it now!”
[[The little girl’s eyes begin to water up as if she’s about to cry. But the mother knew very well of this game, and she wasn’t going to win.]]
“ Don’t you even start missy! You know that you aren’t allowed to have sweets! You need to grow up, watching your figure so you can turn out like me – don’t you want that instead? A career that will take you somewhere, to meet a handsome man, have all the money in the world that you desire?”
[[At this point, the little girl was no longer listening and was trying to climb up to the barstool to get to the candies – however, she was too short to reach to the seat. The mother was growing a tad annoyed.]]
“ You can’t always get what you want. So you need to just forget about those M&M’s.”
[[The mother turned and walked away out of the room, leaving the little girl staring up at the counter with a saddened look on her face. As she is about to begin crying, another voice is heard in the room, coming from behind the girl.]]
“ What’s wrong sis?”
[[As the girl looks straight up, a younger gentleman in his mid-twenties is standing above her. He is wearing a pronto uomo three-button black diamond lapel tuxedo, with a peach vest and tie. His hair is dirty blonde, neatly spiked. He picks up the girl and sits her on the barstool.]]
“Mommy won’t let me have any M&M’s…”
“ Is that so? Hm, she must be stressed. Well, I can help out with that.”
[[He smiled at the the girl, and picked up the bag of M&M’s, opening it from the top. He took his other free hand and poured some of the candy into it, tossing some into his mouth. He then poured a few candies in front of the girl onto the counter.]]
“ Here you go. Now stop crying, you know I need you to toss those little petals down the aisle today. You have a very important role.”
[[The girl smiled as she took a few of the candies and placed them immediately into her mouth, crunching away at the sound of the hard-shell chocolates breaking away. The gentleman walked away and the scene faded away.]]
Twenty-two years later…
[[The scene once again opens to a bag of peanut butter M&M’s on this time, an older woman’s lap. The camera zooms out to an attractive blonde, her hair worn down. The woman looked to be in her late-twenties. She was sitting on a chair, legs crossed as she was eating away at the candies. She was wearing a hot pink tube top that seemed to attract main attention to her bust, and a short, black skirt which brought the main attention to her long, slender legs. She was talking, but nobody was in the room. Then the camera caught a voice responding, which zoomed into the cell phone that was set on the table beside her.]]
“I don’t understand how this company already thinks that just because I signed a contract, that they can put me into a wrestling match. I’m a manager, not somebody that’s going to go into a ring full of sweaty people, and press my body against them and throw them around on the mat just so I can beat them senseless.”
[[The voice responding to her had a familiar tone in his voice – much like the voice we heard earlier in this scene.]]
“ Well Emma, you are employed to a wrestling company afterall…”
“Hush, Damien! You know what I mean.”
“ I kid, I kid. You’ll be fine. It isn’t like you haven’t wrestled in a ring before, let alone when we were a tad bit younger, I thought I bullied you around enough.”
“Yes, I know that. But Shawn is my main focus. Remember?”
“ If he’s your main focus – why don’t you just date the guy already?”
[]
“HA! Let’s be realistic here. He isn’t boyfriend material, got it?”
“ Alright – alright… I mean, I thought he was always a good guy..
“Well anyway, speaking of him – I better go find him. Hopefully he didn’t get lost – this place is pretty big. I’ll talk to you soon?”
“ Of course sis.”
“Bye D – love you!”
“ Love you too.”
[[Emma turned off her phone and placed the bag of candy, now half-way full on the table. She let out a sigh and came to a stand. She looked around what room would potentially become her locker room.]]
“I’ve got a way to go to get this place set up…”
[[She flipped her hair, and turned to exit the room. Scene fades.]]
Hours Later…
[[The camera now pans out to Emma walking alongside with Shawn down the hall, on their way to the gym to prepare before the match. Emma looks over at Shawn, who appears rather quiet.]]
“So, what do you think of the lineup for our match at iNew Year?”
[[Shawn let out a shrug at his looked at her briefly for a moment.]]
“I wouldn’t know that – I haven’t had a chance just yet to check out our competition. I mean, I know you, but I also know you weren’t planning on being in this match - ”
“Now that doesn’t mean I don’t know anything! I’ve watched you perform in the ring for two years now – watched mistakes you made that cost you money due to carelessness, and I’ve also seen some slick moves you had that caused an upset and a lot of other people money because of how you wrestled the week before.”
[[Emma let out a laugh. Shawn didn’t laugh at all.]]
“Give me a break, I’m getting there. Not like two years is enough to fully get an idea of what you can and cannot do… Besides, you’re not an in-ring competitor –”
[[She interrupted him quickly.]]
“Don’t be so judgmental now. I know a lot more than you think; actually, when I worked independent before we met, I did a lot more in ring work than anything. That’s why I hope people like Genocide, as well as Joanne Canelli, don’t go as far as underestimating me. Just because I’ve been handling management, does not mean I’m rusty. Considering a second female is in this match, you should be watching out for yourself too. Don’t want to be the guy that has to live with the reputation that he was beat by a girl.”
[[She stopped in front of Shawn as she pushed the door open to the gym. She turned and looked at him, with a grin on her face.]]
“And just so you know, this match isn’t anything personal. So don’t cry when I kick your ass out there. I don’t know how Genocide is in the ring, but he’s young. So I can imagine he doesn’t have a whole lot of experience. And as for Joanne, she’s a bit older than the two of us, which mean she has experience. She’s got to be tough, I’ve heard she’s from Jersey – and Jersey people don’t take shit from anybody. I’m just saying Shawn, we’re going to be in a ring with different people and different backgrounds. Just don’t think this match will be a walk in the park – because it sure as Hell won’t be…
