Act 1: Immortality Sucks
"You think it takes courage to do what we do? Face another immortal with a sword knowing only one of you will live. You try being her. You try living one year knowing that your time is running out. That no matter how much you train, no matter how many tricks you have, you STILL lose. That's the way it is for them. So little time for them to SEE anything or DO anything."

That no matter how much you train, no matter how many tricks you have, you STILL lose. That's the way it is for them. So little time for them to SEE anything or DO anything."
Methos - Highlander
The scene opens on New York high above the traffic. The buildings dotted the landscape and loomed over the streets that were filled with cars and people on a clear evening. The moon was bright as it hung against the deep midnight blue sky, and each star seemed to twinkle more than the last as they glistened in the sky. The traffic had come to a stand still in the streets as it usually did after the theaters on Broadway had let out for the night. The city was high with security with the anniversary of 9/11 just around the corner, and nothing escaped the eye of the security they had, except for two figures on of the roofs high above Times Square. The sound of metal clashing on metal is heard as the figures move around the roof. The two warriors were locked in battle, in a battle that only one that would walk away from in the end. The dark haired woman twirls around, and brings the long silver blade down and takes the man's head off with one swipe. The sky starts to cloud over, as lightning rips through the clouds. She raises her arms to the sky, as the lightning starts to hit her body, as the long silver sword falls to the ground. The lightning comes down, hitting the ground around her, hitting the air conditioner that was beside her. She soon falls to her knees and the lightning stops, just as quick as it began.
Woman: I know what this looks like, and when it all first happened to me, I didn't believe it either. You're probably wondering how it came to this... Let me start at the beginning... I was born in Paris in 1778. My mother had died of a cold in later winter that year, leaving my father to raise me. He soon perished as well at the hands of Louie's men when he had been caught stealing us something to eat. I never saw him again. I stayed in an orphanage, until I turned 18, and was given a job in the Royal Palace... That's right Versailles before it was a Museum. The Revolution broke out just a month after I had begun and well you know the rest there. The Royals lost their heads, and the people of France were free at least for a little while... Until Napoleon Bonaparte came into power.
She looks down at the man's body that was at her feet and sighs. It would be a while before anyone would find him, and she would be long gone and no one would ever know what happened. She picks up her own blade and heads for the stairs as she looked out over the city once again.
Denise: It's strange really I've watched this city, hell the country grow when I arrived on the shores of New York. Back then there was no high rises, there was no electricity, and there were no cars. The streets were nothing but cobble stone, and horses were the way to go. But it wouldn't be long before my life would change. On my way home one night, I passed by the docks. Back then the docks was a lot seedier and a very dangerous place for a woman that walked alone. I got hit by a stray bullet, and should have died that night... But I didn't.
She starts walking down the stairs of the building hearing only her footsteps on the metal stairs. She sighs as she puts the sword back into the sheath under the long black trench coat she wore.
Denise: My heart stopped, and yes I did die... But a few minutes later I was alive once again, and an older looking man was standing above me. He was like me. Immortal. I didn't believe him at first, but I soon learned what it meant to be one. My mentor was taken just after a month of helping me and showing me the way. I was alone for a rather long time, but it wasn't until the American Revolution I realized that I was not the only one. I found someone that understood me, became my watcher. Someone that would watch my back, and make sure that I followed the rules... Yes there are rules.
She soon reaches the main floor and heads out into the night. People moved about on the sidewalks, rushing this way and that, trying to find a taxi to go out for dinner after the shows on Broadway, or to head home for a good night's rest. People don't notice Denise as she passes, almost like she wasn't really among them as she walked along the sidewalks to where her car was parked.
Denise: Sam is not just my friend but she's the only one that knows the truth about me. Of course I know you're probably thinking but you just told us... The thing is... I might be telling the truth... I might not be. Maybe I'm just some crazed woman that likes to carry a long sword, or maybe a serial killer that likes to take trophies from my kills. That's the best thing, you will never truly know.
Denise just smiles, as she opens a door to a black BMW that sat at the curb. She soon pulls away heading out of the city, and back toward the countryside as the scene fades to black.
Act 2: Welcome to Sleepy Hollow
The scene opens on the beautiful small village of Sleepy Hollow. It was still late at night, and most of the homes were darkened, while a few night owls stayed awake until the sun rose once again. The black BMW moved through the town heading to the industrial side of the area, where we see a rather large warehouse that had once been home to a company that had long since moved out of the area. The car pulls up to a loading bay and it slowly opens, and Denise drives inside, as the door closes behind her. She was home and now it was time to get stitched up and get rid of the bruises that she knew would be appearing soon. She might be immortal but when she got hit, it still hurt. She walks to an old freight elevator, and opens the door, as she presses a button. Denise closes the doors behind her, and leans against the back on the elevator and sighs. It had been a long night, and she needed rest. The elevator soon stops, and Denise opens the doors, and steps out into a small hallway in front of a door. She takes the keys out, and opens the door revealing a loft like apartment in complete darkness. She moves around in the darkness heading to her bedroom, only to hear movement coming from somewhere in the kitchen. She slowly makes her way to the kitchen, with sword drawn, and flicks on the light quickly seeing Sam standing there with a drink in hand, clutching her chest.
Sam: What in the hell were you thinking? You could have chopped my head off or put it through it. Remember if I die I can't come back.
Denise: I thought you were an intruder waiting for me. I'm sorry. Are you all right?
Sam: I will be when my heart starts again. So how did it go?
Denise: It went well enough. He put up a fight but in the end he left a very wide opening.
Sam: You don't look to beat up.
Denise: I have a few bruises, and scratches but nothing to really worry about. Did I get any calls?
Sam: Markus called. He just wanted to see if you were still alive, since he hasn't seen you in a while, and you got a call from a place called UWA.
Denise looks at her with a puzzled look. It had been almost four years since she had left TIWF, in search of Jason. Now the calls were coming again.
Denise: Did they say what they wanted?
Sam: They said they wanted you to sign with them. They had sent a contract but they never heard anything back from you, so they called.
Denise looks over at the table where a pile of mail had been built up over the last few days, and sees a large envelope with a strange address on it. She sighs, and opens it, seeing the contract that was inside.
Denise: You think I wouldn't miss something like this wouldn't you?
Sam: Well you have been busy, and we really haven't been here in a few days so it's possible. Are you going to do it?
Denise: I think I will. I'm bored, and I have all eternity to do nothing really. I did rather well in the TIWF before I left so why not?
Sam: Well you better go and see Marcus then. He has your horse at the stables.
Denise: I know. I'll go later today after I get some rest.
Sam: sounds like a good idea. Let's get you fixed up first so you won't look to bad tomorrow.
Denise: Good idea.
With that Denise and Sam disappear into the bathroom to get the bruises soaked, and the cuts mended as the scene fades to black.
Act 3: The Countryside
The scene opens on a beautiful sunny morning over the countryside just outside of Sleepy Hollow. The sun was bright in the sky, while the leaves on the old trees started to change color once again, only to fall to the ground. A young buck stood on the side of the road grazing in on of the massive fields, as the sound of a car startled him only to disappear back into the woods from which he came. The black BMW roared up the long stretch of road, heading toward an old farm house that loomed over the land in front of Denise. The fields had been fenced off to keep the horses on the land and off the road, or in some cases to stop people from taking the creatures.
Denise: It's funny. I told myself I would never to do this again, but here I am ready to embark on another adventure in another fed. I thought I would never do this again, but I'm going to. It's not because I want to hurt anyone, it's just the fact that I want something to do instead of sitting around and doing nothing. I know I haven't been in the game for 4 years but it doesn't matter. I still remember everything that I was taught, and know how to handle myself in the ring, especially when it has to do with something as important as a shot at a title. I'm going to walk away from this match with my first win, and the number one contender spot for the TV title. I'm not afraid to do whatever it takes to bring my opponent down, nor will I stop until I get what I want. I just hope whoever else in this match realizes that I am no pushover and not underestimate me.
Denise smiles to herself, as she pulls up into the large front yard. A golden retriever runs off of the front porch as she pulls up, and stops the car. Denise steps out and pets the dog on the head, before heading toward the stables around the back. There was an older looking man, with dark hair wearing a white t-shirt and a pair of tight blue jeans.
Markus: Hello Denise. I take it you got my message.
Denise: I did, but that's not why I'm here. I need Daredevil.
Markus: Sure. Do you want to go for a ride?
Denise: Actually I'm going to step back into the ring again. I'm going to have someone come and get Daredevil tomorrow if that's all right.
Marcus: Well he's your horse, so of course I don't mind. I'll have him ready to be moved by tomorrow, and I'll make sure that he has his food, and harness, and lead for you so you can make sure he's taken care of.
Denise: Thanks Marcus. I'll make sure he's taken care of. I don't let anyone else touch him anyway, except for you.
Marcus: I know Daredevil is is good hands. Are you hungry?
Denise: Actually I am. You go ahead and get things started... I want to stretch Daredevils legs before he gets put into his trailer tomorrow.
Marcus: Sure. It'll be ready shortly so don't be too long.
Denise: I won't.
Denise walks off toward the stables where the horses were kept. Her high heeled boots click on the stone floor as she walked by the other stalls until she reached the last one where a pure black horse stood with it's head hanging out over the lower door. Denise just smiles as she pats his nose.
Denise: Want to go for a ride?
The horse seems to nod, as she unlocks the door, and hooks his lead up to his harness and leads him outside to get his saddle and bridle. Denise soon has the horse ready and heads off toward one of the many fields and soon puts the horse into a full canter.
Denise: *Voice Over* It feels good to be going back to something that I truly enjoyed. My first match is one that no one will ever forget. When I first started out I was good, but never really got a chance to show the world what I could do, but now I can. I'm not one that should be messed with, and when we all step into the ring at Fall Brawl... You better be ready, because I know I'll be ready. See you soon.
Denise pulls back on the reigns and the horse rears up with Denise sitting high on it's back, as the scene fades to black.
