Last Stand
Section 1
Manabu takes a seat on his couch; his phone is to his ear. The black leather ‘creeks’ a bit as he sits down. He looks to his left and notices that there is a small tear in the leather.
Manabu Fujiwara:
“Geez.”
Manabu hits the end button on his phone. Over the past couple of days he had been getting a lot of spam calls and voice mails. He decided that he needed to go in and clean out his voice message inbox.
Manabu starts to set his phone down, but it starts to ring before he is able to. He looks at the caller ID.
Manabu Fujiwara:
“Dad.”
Manabu hits the connect button.
Mongo Fuji:
“My son, how are you?”
Manabu Fujiwara:
“I’m doing good. How are you?”
Mongo Fuji:
“I’m doing fine.
“I’m actually at home at the moment.”
Manabu Fujiwara:
“At home?
“But I thought UECW had a very rigorous touring schedule? Shouldn’t you be out on the road.”
Mongo was silent for a second.
Mongo Fuji:
“Well, I’ll be honest son; they sent me home for a bit.
“I’m haven’t been fired or anything. But at the moment, they don’t have any serious plans for me. So, I’ve just been working a couple of local Indy shows here and there.
“But hey, at least they are sending me a check right?”
Manabu sighs
Manabu Fujiwara:
“Yeah, I suppose so.”
Mongo Fuji:
“But enough about me, how’s it going with your company son?”
Manabu hesitates for a few seconds.
Manabu Fujiwara:
“Things are alright.”
Mongo Fuji:
“You know son, you have always been a horrible liar.
“Is it about what happened last week?”
Manabu Fujiwara:
“You know about that?”
Mongo Fuji:
“Yes.
“I know you try not to pay attention to the news and wrestling sites. But, your lose has been covered a lot. So think you are starting to lose your edge.”
Manabu sighs.
Manabu Fujiwara:
“I don’t know, maybe I am.”
Mongo laughs.
Mongo Fuji:
“Son, let me explain something to you.
“Manabu, even the best of the best take a bad lose. Ric Flair hasn’t won every match, Dusty Rhodes didn’t win every match. We place a lot of emphasis on winning in this business. But, son, losing is just as important as winning. You need it to grow.”
Manabu Fujiwara:
“I understand that dad.
“But, losing isn’t an option for me right now. I’ve been the UWA for a long time. People are waiting for my to fail, waiting for me to slip up. Last week I showed a slight moment of weakness, and now fools think that they can just do as they please with me in the ring.”
Mongo Fuji:
“Son, people are always going to discredit your prowess and skill. You are a 5’7’’ Japanese wrestler; people will always think that they can run of you.
“But, that doesn’t mean a d*** thing!
“YOU know that you are a better wrestler than most people in this business. Heck, you have been most of UWA. Don’t let anyone intimidate you son.”
Manabu nods his head.
Manabu Fujiwara:
“Your right dad.”
The two are silent for a bit longer.
Mongo Fuji:
“Something less is the matter.
“Would it be this upcoming match?”
Manabu Fujiwara:
“I guess a little bit.”
Mongo Fuji:
“Well, a Hell in a Cell is extreme type of match son. I’ve been through a couple myself. But, remember this son; Hell in a Cell is just a match. Don’t think of it as something frightening, just think of it as another match. Because, really, that’s all it really is.
“And don’t try to psych yourself out. Don’t let others fool you, Hell in a Cell isn’t something you can really prepare for, it’s a mental game. It doesn't matter how many times you wrestle in a cell, each experience is different.”
Manabu nods again. He then begins to laugh.
Manabu Fujiwara:
“Thanks dad.
“I appreciate all your advice.”
Mongo Fuji:
“Anytime son. Remember, I’m always here for you.”
Manabu Fujiwara:
“Thanks dad.”
Mongo Fuji:
“Now, I’d advice you to go and relax. No need to stress yourself out.”
Mongo ends the conversation. Manabu takes his phone and sets it on the couch. He runs his fingers through his hair as he sighs. A few moments later, Cammy walking into the living room. She takes a seat next to him and puts her arms around him.
Manabu Fujiwara:
“What’s up babe.”
Cammy:
“I’m heading out to dinner with a couple of friends later.
“I know you probably need to train, but would you like you come with me?”
Manabu laughs.
Manabu Fujiwara:
“Sure babe, I’ll go.”
Section 2

Sources are reporting that Manabu isn’t too concerned about the match. He has been continuing his normal training schedule. With the exception of last week, Manabu has been impressive ever since stepped into UWA.
These two stars will battle inside a large cell. Historically, Hell in a Cell has proved to be a ruthless match. Will either of the two walk out of this match? Only time will tell.

Section 3
The camera fades in as we see Manabu sitting in his locker room. He is dressed in his normal ring attire. He tosses a kneepad back into his gym back, which is sitting on the floor. He then picks up the UWA Championship, which is resting next to him on the bench.
Manabu then gets up off the bench and walks into the hallway.
In the background, we can hear the sounds of a match going on. The crowd is cheering insanely loud, but, Manabu does his best to block it out.
He walks up to the drink counter and pours himself a glass of water. After drinking the water, he tosses the cup away. A few seconds later, a official walks up.
Official:
“Hey Manabu, 10 minutes.
“Good luck out there!”
Manabu Fujiwara:
“Thanks.”
Manabu stretches a bit. He then turns and looks at the camera.
Manabu Fujiwara:
“I’m not going to lie, last week was an embarrassment. Look, at of people would have come out here to give you some type of bulls*** excuse as to why they lost. Some might claim that they were injured or something; others might say that Joanne cheated. But, I’m not going to come out here and do that. I lost because I had a bad night; I wasn’t on top of my game, it’s as simple as that.
“It’s true; you got the best of me Joanne. You should be proud of that. And I’ll be honest, if ANYONE in this promotion deserves a title shot, then it’s you. Rarely do you have an off night, and you fight with pride and honor in the ring. You and Cashman are the only ones in this company that have truly challenged me.”
Manabu sighs.
Manabu Fujiwara:
“Now, enough talk about you Joanne.
“Let’s talk about ME.
“A few months ago I joined this federation. I came to this place defeated, downtrodden. Of course, none of yaw knew that. I came seeking competition, but I also came seeking redemption. Before I signed on the dotted line, I promised myself something. I promised myself that if I didn’t succeed in UWA, then I would give up wrestling. I thought that if I couldn’t make it in UWA, then I didn’t deserve to be in the ring.
“But, low and behold, I didn’t fail!
“No, on the contrary—I thrived!”
Manabu shakes his head a bit.
Manabu Fujiwara:
“Let’s be honest though, maybe I got a bit head of myself. Maybe I rose to the top too quickly.
“Maybe I should have done things the old fashioned way. You know, sign to UWA, work about 30 matches, and then challenge for the title. Perhaps, perhaps I should have started over and paid my dues again.”
Manabu shrugs his shoulders.
Manabu Fujiwara:
“Well Joanne, I suppose it’s too late to change that now isn’t it. That’s the past and that can’t be changed. Now, that past also includes your win against me last week.
“But, let us leave the past in the past shall we.
“Instead, let’s move on to the future— because that is what is important is it? This match at Triple X is important for both of us isn’t it Joanne? This is your first UWA title shot isn’t it? I know you must be anxious, because opportunities like this don’t come around very often. You might not get an opportunity like this for a long time.
“I can imagine the thought that are running through your head right now. You are probably thinking that this match is a sure-fire win don’t you?”
Manabu laughs.
Manabu Fujiwara:
“Well, this match is an important one for me as well. You see, I’ve held this belt for a long, long time now. And, for the most part, I haven’t been in jeopardy of actually losing the belt. But this time, ha, there is a good chance that I might walk away empty handed.
“You know a couple of weeks ago or so, I would have stressed out about this match. But, no, not anymore. Someone helped me realize that I don’t have anything to prove. I’m established, I don’t have to ask for anyone’s respect. I don’t have to impress you Joanne or anyone else in this d*** company. But that doesn’t mean that I’m not going to go out there and fight hard—for myself!”
Manabu nods his head.
Manabu Fujiwara:
“I don’t know, maybe that makes me selfish in a way. But hey, who says right shouldn’t look out for number one? If I’m not concerned about myself, then who will be right?”
Manabu takes a couple of steps back and scratches his head.
Manabu Fujiwara:
“Speaking of looking out for one’s self, I happened to catch your little promo from the other day. I’m not going to lie; you had me cracking up! For example, that line about me respecting you because you have been in a Hell in a Cell match before. Yeah, I’ll be honest, I don’t give a f*** if you survived previous Hell in a Cells or not.
“Why?
“Wrestling is dynamic Joanne; that means things are always changing my dear. You might have survived in the past, but that doesn’t mean you are going to survive THIS match sweetie. In fact, you can be certain that this will be a bloody, brutal match. There’s a good chance neither of us will walk out 100 percent.
“But, lets move on to another line that had me gasping for air, ‘I'm not goin' to let you get the upper hand this time and walk away with what is rightfully mine.’
“Let me explain something to you Joanne. Nothing in this company, nothing in this WORLD is free or given. Things have must be earned. You, well, you simply earned a SHOT at MY title. Now, the key word in that sentence is ‘shot.’ You see, I earned this title months ago when I went killed everyone on the roster. I earned this championship by defeating the champion in single competition twice. I earned the right to call myself a champion by standing my ground against numerous challengers; Silas, Eaton, even your boyfriend. I’ve been a honorable representative of UWA every time I step out of the house!
“That is why I have the privilege, no, the right to call myself the UWA Champion. You don’t have that right, not just yet. Yeah, you’ve won a few matches, and that’s great. But trust me, you may believe that you have worked hard, but I can guarantee that I’ve worked then times harder than you. I understand that this is big break, your big opportunity. And it’s unfortunate, but I’m going to have to be the one to send all your hopes crashing to the ground.”
Manabu smirks a bit.
Manabu Fujiwara:
“And one last thing before I end this big monologue.
“Running around screaming ‘Mafioso,’ what the f*** are you thinking? Is that supposed to scare someone? Let’s be honest, your face may be a little scare at times, but, no one is afraid of you ma’am. Now, when I walk out of that cell, holding MY belt, you can scream ‘Mafioso’ until your face turns blue.”
The official runs over.
Official:
“One minute!”
Manabu Fujiwara:
“See you out there Joanne.”
