”I’m Sorry”
Characters Used: Shawn Cashman
Characters Mentioned: Sakura & Mia, Fear & Jasper
[[Scene opens to a hospital. Doctors are running around everywhere. The sliding glass doors open, and you see a blonde figure running into the room. She’s looking around, and her outfit seems familiar from the night before, looking just thrown on. As the camera pans up to view the female’s face, you see run down mascara, from crying. A doctor approaches her.]]
Doctor: You must be Ms. Sinclair?
“Yes…. How is he? What happened?”
[[So many questions were rushing through her head, but she knew it could only be answered a little at a time.]]
Doctor: He was in a very bad car accident with several other vehicles… Unfortunately right now, I’m unable to go over the details as to what happened… Right now, we’re worried about him not pulling through…
[[The words echo in Emma’s mind, her eyes just widening in such disbelief. She fought back tears.]]
“ Is… Is there anything I can do?”
[[The doctor places her hand on Emma’s shoulder.]]
Doctor: I promise, we’re doing what we can to help him… Just pray right now for him. He’s in good care right now with some of the best doctors in the industry. We’ll call for you to come back to see him once everything settles.
[[Emma nodded, as she retreated to a seat near the lobby desk. She buried her face into her hands, muffling out the crying. All she could think about was why she didn’t ask him to stay.]]
[]
“May I get you anything to drink ma’am?”
[[Emma looked up, with a blank expression on her face, but was quick to shake it off with her charming smile.]]
“Yes… Two waters, one with lemon, one with none.”
“Right away, my dear.”
[[As the waiter left, Emma turned her attention back to her phone as she looked on at the article, that read “8 Years Ago: The Fatal Accident”, with the picture engraved below.]]
[[She frowned and let out a small sigh, until she heard a voice approaching her.]]
“Wow, am I that late, that you actually aren’t busy on the phone with somebody?”
[[She looked up to see Shawn Cashman joining her at the table. He sported a white dress shirt and khaki pants. A loose tie hung over his neck. She smiled at him and let out a chuckle.]]
“Overslept? I see you didn’t even get a chance to put your tie together.”
[[Shawn glanced down to see her observation, laughing as he goes to fix it.]]
“Haha, yeah just a bit…I guess my body wants to catch up on all of the sleep, I’ve been losing lately. Thanks for coming out though, you know I appreciate it. What are you looking at anyway?”
“Just catching up on the local news, nothing to worry about. I’ve already ordered our drinks.”
“Water, with lemon?”
“Yes, of course.”
“Thanks… alright then, well, let’s talk.”
[[Emma nodded and turned the power button off from her phone, with the article left open and placed it back in her purse. As the waiter approached them, he placed their waters onto the table.]]
“Would you guys like anything for right now?”
“Um, no thanks, we should be okay for now.”
[[The waiter nodded and walked away. Shawn looked at Emma, who did seem a bit concerned.]]
“Did you want to talk first, maybe? I mean, we’re off today… I’ve got nothing planned, so I suppose I could always talk to you about my stuff later today. It just seems like something has been really bothering you, lately. Are you upset about being constantly carded instead of being a manager?”
“I … well… It’s a little bit of that. It’s one thing to be in a regular match, it’s another thing that we’re out of nowhere competing for the tag team titles in a tornado tag team match. I haven’t really been physically or mentally prepared for this.”
“Alright, I understand that… But what else?”
[[Shawn was quick to pinpoint when something else was wrong. He just knew her too well.]]
“Honestly… I’m okay. I’m just trying to get my head wrapped around this match. We’ve got Mia and Sakura Lang… Jasper and Fear. Sakura, she came out of nowhere and just dominated me last week. If she’s that good, it does concern me how good her sister could potentially be. And as for Jasper and Fear… I mean, Shawn, have you seen these guys backstage? Absolutely creepy. I feel like whenever they walk past me in the locker room, they’re going to attack me. They’re truly intimidating. It makes me wonder if they’ll be just like that in the ring.”
[[You could feel Emma just getting carried away and going on and on… Shawn tapped her glass to get her attention.]]
“Hey … Don’t worry about them right now. You and I’ve got this as long as we stay focused. Besides, you think I’m going to let you get hurt? How long have we known each other Emma? If it gets bad, just remember, it’s a tornado tag… Whoever gets the pin first is pretty much the winner. So I am completely fine with taking those two guys out – you just need to watch your back and make sure that Mia or Sakura get you pinned. Don’t let them get the upset win.”
[[Emma just looked at Shawn with a big of a longing expression, she just frowns at him and one tear finds its way down her cheek, catching Shawn’s attention.]]
“Crying?… Emma, seriously. What’s going on? You’re never like this.”
[[She looks down to the table and brushes her head across her eyes.]]
“I’m sorry… This is just an emotional day for me… ”
[[Shawn frowned at her.]]
“Come on, cheer up. You know I hate seeing you down like this. You know what you need? A date. Hey – sir!”
[[Emma looks up to see that Shawn is trying to wave the waiter to come over. She quickly picks herself back up.]]
“Shawn – what are you doing?! Don’t even think about it!”
“Emma, I’m messing. Now come on, as much as I like water – we’ve got a day full of activities. Let me help you get cheered up, and then we’ll talk about what’s going on with me. We’re not going to think about work, remember? So don’t think about the match for right now – we’ll talk about that later too. Ok?
[[She smiled at him faintly. Despite anything in this world, the one thing Emma admired about him was his determination. Sometimes she wished she could be strong like him.]]
“Ok… Let’s go then.”
[[The two came to a stand and retreat to leave the restaurant. As they get to the door, Shawn goes to open the door for Emma, allowing her to leave first. It was just the little things that reminded her so much of someone close she used to know.]]
